When Barbara Jean was 27 she became seriously ill with a rare autoimmune disorder. After surviving a brush with death caused by her illness, she pushed onward with a new commitment to living. She found yoga during her recovery process and connected with both the physical benefits of stretching and working the body as well as the mental/spiritual benefits. She completed her Modo/Moksha 300 YTT in Nicaragua and joined the team as a teacher following her training.
In addition to her passion for yoga, Barbara Jean also lives for music; she plays violin, viola and banjo and writes songs. When not at Modo, she is likely out on tour in her acoustic duo project Dusty Heart with fellow singer/songwriter Molly Dean. You may also find her in the woods with her dog Kentucky.
