Back From Teacher Training

This summer our long-time member Kim Cloutier completed the Modo Yoga Level One Teacher Training.  It was a month long intensive and training. We sat down and asked a few questions about her experience and she was so generous in her sharing.

TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE OVERALL EXPERIENCE:

”It was really a wonderful experience. Our teachers were excellent! It was also difficult. I have a knee issue and we did a lot of walking, between the studio and the classroom. We also had two practices a day. It took about two weeks for me to get comfortable doing all that walking. I was one of the older students and it was kind of fun seeing what I was capable of doing. I was very impressed with my fellow students too. They “our sangha” are accomplished and caring people who love the practice so much that they made time in their busy schedules to commit to this training and to share their practice.”

WHAT ARE YOUR NEXT GOALS AND NEXT STEPS WITH MODO?

“The intensive is a 300 hour certification, followed by a one year distance learning project that leads to a 500 hour cert. I’m working my way through the projects and practice teaching. I’m still trying to find my voice and comfort leading a class. I have always admired the Modo teachers I’ve practiced with. Now that I know how hard it is to do what they make look so effortless, I’m even more impressed. Practice teaching, and when I’m ready, Community classes.  I would love if you come check them out. After that I hope to teach at Modo. on a regular basis.”

WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST TAKEAWAYS FROM THE EXPERIENCE?

“Modo was designed to be more than just a mat practice. The pillars on the walls of the studio are the action items and the philosophy of Modo. They intend to make the world a little bit better through yoga. Before I left for the training, I wondered if it would deepen my practice, or dampen my enthusiasm. I came away with a better understanding of why I loved yoga in general, and Modo Yoga in particular.”
